Back in October, cheetah cub Kumbali was in need of a friend after being separated from his mother. That’s when a yellow labrador named Kago came to his rescue and the pair became unlikely pals. Months later, Kumbali is doing very well and lives at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia where his best friend works as a companion to other animals. During the recent heavy snow brought by Winter Storm Jonas, the zoo closed down and the best friends got to play around in the fresh powder together. Their reaction to the white fluff is beyond adorable. Funny to [More]
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTBT_ATF’); }); Hero is normally a very quiet dog, so when he started whining incessantly one day, his owner knew something was very wrong. Four-year-old Sadie has type one diabetes and Down syndrome, which makes it quite difficult for her parents to monitor the little girl’s blood sugar levels. That’s where Hero comes in. The service dog has been specially trained to detect decreases in blood sugar. While many dogs have been trained to help diabetics in the same way, what Hero did one day is almost beyond comprehension. Little Sadie was at school five miles away from [More]
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); Brian Ford is a brave little boy, fighting a fight none of us should ever have to face. In November of 2014, the now six-year-old little guy was diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukemia called Acute Undifferentiated Leukemia, which has AML characteristics. Brian is nothing but a fighter and after several chemotherapy treatments, the cancer went into remission. But sadly, in December of 2015, doctors confirmed that the cancer had returned. Recently, doctors told this brave hero’s parents he only had weeks left to live. With such little time left, an incredible community of [More]
When you meet Minnie the dog, a few words immediately come to mind: gentle, affectionate, cuddly, friendly, and playful. But that wasn’t always the case. When she was found by the side of a dirty road, “scared” was the best adjective to describe her. When animal rescue organization Howl Of A Dog came across Minnie, she was quite hesitant to trust anyone. Luckily, it didn’t take too long for them to gain her trust and get her the help she needed from a vet. What they discovered at the animal hospital, though, crushed my heart…but don’t worry, there’s a happy [More]
There are an estimated 30 million stray dogs roaming the streets of India. With poorly lit roads, these pups often end up causing accidents or becoming roadkill. To save strays from being mowed down by vehicles, a non-profit organization called Motopaws has come up with an initiative to fit as many dogs as possible with reflective collars made from donated denim. While it’s certainly not a solution to the stray problem, it goes a long way toward saving lives. What an ingenious way to help these pups. It’s not a bad idea for domestic dogs either! For those late-night walks [More]
As any kid with a magnifying glass or a box of matches knows, there’s something inherently fun and soothing about melting random plastic objects. Apparently, that satisfaction of watching something melt doesn’t go away just because you grow up either. So there we have it, watching things melt in [More]
It was truly a case of being at the right place at the right time for firefighter Matthew MacEwen and two off-duty police officers, when the trio of heroes ended up saving a girl’s life after she got pinned under a car. The three men witnessed a 14-year-old girl getting run over by an out-of-control car, completely trapping her under the vehicle. The heroes immediately jumped into action, and as you’ll see in the incredibly dramatic video, it was group effort that ended up saving the teen’s life. That poor girl is both incredibly unlucky to have been involved in [More]
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); A while back we brought you a story about an amazing tap dancing seagull in Wales. Well, the little guy is still dancing like no one is watching! The feathered fella seems to be quite the celebrity these days and is always willing to do a little jig for a yummy snack. Fun fact: Seagulls actually developed this ability to “tap dance” because the sound of their feet hitting the ground resembles raindrops, which brings out the worms. So, basically, this clever bird is using his tap dancing skills to get his supper even when there [More]
While on a whale watching trip off Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, a group of tourists managed to witness an incredible sight. It happened after a friendly seal swam up to their boat, something that is quite common during marine life tours, but what left them stunned with amazement is what the seal decided to do all of a sudden. The playful little guy went for a ride on the back of a whale, using his massive body as a real, live surfboard! Seems like he’s having a whale of a time. Definitely gets my seal of approval. Sorry, had to say [More]
Costa, a homeless Brazilian man, ended up in the hospital after being attacked by some street thugs. While his injuries were being treated, doctors discovered he had melanoma. This meant he’d have to stay for a couple of weeks in the hospital while receiving treatment, which was a huge problem for Costa because he didn’t live on the streets by himself. He lived with Seco, his loving dog. As he underwent skin cancer treatment, his best friend waited outside in the parking lot for days on end. Since hospital rules do not permit animals to enter, hospital staff provided food [More]
